ARNETTE SURFCITY FESTIVAL FUSES ART, CONSCIENCE AND LIFESTYLE
This 2nd edition gathers in Barcelona more than 30 artists coming from all five continents, in an exhibition dedicated to the world of surfing. In addition, the renowned local visual artist Alba G. Corral has created an exclusive installation for the festival.
The event will also feature the presence of Alvaro Bayona, paraplegic top surfer, as well as the creators of the environmental initiative The Seabin Project.
In a dystopian future dominated by corporations, all natural habitats, including seas and oceans, have been extinguished. But man resists and a collective known as Surfcitizens has created the latest wave on the Earth, an artificial intelligence made of light, where they have managed to capture the last drop of marine life. So begins the story suggested by the image of this second edition of Arnette Surfcity Festival, multidisciplinary art show focused on surf culture, to be held in the art space Fabra i Coats in the city of Barcelona (Spain) on April 9th and 10th, 2016. This meeting point for surfers around the world also approaches their philosophy of life to urbanites merging two apparently antonym concepts, Surf and the City, and does it so through multiple activities: art exhibition, craft market, workshops with industry insiders, lectures by social and environmental leader figures, surf movie premieres, skate demos, DJ and concerts and sea-inspired cuisine.
